Talk Description ....from Jamaica round to Nicaragua CaribX has been active in this region since 2009 and its predecessor MDOIL since 2003. Chortis is a major continental tectonic block in the Western Caribbean. Its offshore component stretches some 750 kms. between the coasts of Honduras and Nicaragua to western Jamaica. Some 50 wells were drilled across this terrain up to the early 1980’s with 73% of the wells recording hydrocarbon shows, 5 wells flowed hydrocarbons with several significant source rock penetrations. In this short presentation I will walk through the basins describing the oils, source rocks and reservoirs of this lightly explored part of the Caribbean.
