Passive surface geochemistry, collecting gas samples in the soil above a reservoir and analysing them, can be used to understand the location of hydrocarbons in the subsurface, and assess potential CO2 storage sites. Any hydrocarbons or CO2 leaking from the subsurface to the soil can be detected.

In this webinar we will hear about the technology from Amplified Geochemical Imaging in Houston. In AGI's sampler, hydrocarbon gases and CO2 are collected onto an adsorbent material sealed by a membrane, while water is repelled.
The technology was used by Lithuania National Oil Company to increase production from a field from 403 bopd to 6,533 bopd, using the data to identify prospective areas, leading to drilling of three new wells. There was a clear correlation between AGI's probability factor for a site and the production of oil from that site.
The technology was used in a depleted gas field in Oman being considered for CO2 storage. Analysis showed that the gas was still leaking in certain locations, and so it would be unsuitable for CO2 sequestration.
It was also used in the Salah CCS program, where gas is produced together in CO2, and CO2 is re-injected into a down-dip water leg of the field. The AGI technology, together with analysis of injected CO2, showed that none of the injected CO2 was passing to the producing wells.
The presenter is Rick Schrynemeeckers, CEO & CTO of Low Carbon Services, Amplified Geochemical Imaging. Mr Schrynemeeckers is based on Conroe, Texas, and has been working in geophysical analysis, research, sales and marketing since 1998, including 13 years at Amplified Geochemical Imaging.
This event is at 3pm London time / 9am Houston time

Steered strategy, sales, marketing, product development, market assessment, and operations in the U.S., Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina, and Egypt in the oil & gas and environmental industries to transform financially failing divisions or companies to profitability. ? Amplified Geochemical Imaging: devised and implemented a new strategy to open a market that had not been penetrated by the 5 previous sales people over 13 years. Increased sales from $128K to $2.0mm. ? StratoChem Services: developed multiple worldwide partnerships and contracts to transform a mom and pop Egyptian laboratory into an international player. ? Weatherford Laboratories: identified a new market niche for a new product line resulting in a 6-fold increase in sales. ? PDP Analytical: developed strategies to increase revenues by gaining access to new markets. Reversed financial losses within a year and a half which allowed the company to be sold at a profit.
