In this 1 hour webinar, we take a quick look at some new ways of doing carbon capture which may help the industry scale up over the 2020s in Europe.
If we could get better at verifying CO2 storage integrity, funding CCS via voluntary carbon markets, developing tanker shipping for CO2, reducing the cost of capture, and simplifying decision making for emitters with simpler cost structures, we might be able to accelerate the roll out of CCS.
We will tackle all these 5 topics.
- The role of 4D seismic in the early identification of unexpected fluid movement in a CO2 storage complex to mitigate against the risk of leakage – a cost vs benefit review
Andy Kirchin, director, subsurface solutions, RPS Energy
- European voluntary carbon markets - how they can potentially contribute to the costs of running carbon capture and storage projects. What is the potential contribution per tonne of CO2 and how big could the market be?
Matthias Krey, CCS Plus
- Slashing CO2 capture costs - by using pressure rather than heat.
Stratos Stavrakakis, business development manager, Nuada
- Tanker shipping of CO2 from terminal close to the emitter to storage site. Whilst it is far from being available as a commercial service, how fast and easily can tanker operators get vessels built and into operation with a long term contract? Can we get any sense of the cost per tonne per 1000km, for example?
Stavros Niotis, Chief Sustainability Officer, Prime Marine
- New business models for an emitter to receive CCS services - an emitter pays a fixed fee per tonne for capture and storage, including cost of capture
Emma Gottlob Wollebekk, strategy and business design manager, Aker Carbon Capture
These topics could each be handled in great depth, and there are many other relevant topics. But with this webinar we seek to give a quick overview about 5 topics which are very interesting for the roll-out and expansion of carbon capture and storage in Europe.
