Gas producers may be in a good position to serve the growing market for low-carbon hydrogen at lower cost and lower carbon than 'standard' blue hydrogen.
We invite you to our webinar on May 8 to learn about how this can happen.
Gas producers can use the standard methane reforming (SMR) process to convert their natural gas to hydrogen and CO2. They can then sell the hydrogen via pipeline and inject all captured CO2 into the base of the same producing gas reservoir to improve gas recovery ('enhanced gas recovery'). In order only to make more low-carbon hydrogen.
Primarily targeted at selling blue hydrogen to the same customers who today buy natural gas from the gas producer. So unlike the challenge faced by many hydrogen projects, the value chains for these projects are already in place
Our speaker, Belinda Perriman, is co-founder of Convert Well, a company which screens natural gas fields for conversion into low-carbon hydrogen producers and brings partners to progress the conversion to hydrogen production. She is a former senior commercial advisor, CCS and oil and gas with Shell, including roles as project lead for Shell's Peterhead CCS project (2012-2013) and supporting Tees Valley Combined Authority on CCUS and hydrogen (2015 - present).
Belinda will discuss the potential opportunity for gas producers and how to get there.
Since 2012, I have contributed to the delivery of large-scale CO2 emission reduction projects through CCUS and Hydrogen. Why? Because fossil fuels still provided some 80% of the world's energy needs and the volume of fossil fuels used has not gone down over the last 10 years. We need more people decarbonising the 80%!
