Gas opportunities in the southern Caribbean

Just over 20 years ago I was a regular visitor to Trinidad to help our local BP office discover more gas*; BP had recently acquired Amoco and with it a fledgling gas business. All this was moderately successful - several good discoveries tho' not 'giants'.
As a result, Trinidad established an industrial base to exploit the gas - exports of LNG and Ammonia for example.
However, LNG exports have been in decline in recent years and it looks like they are now ~50% of their peak; as noted here:

there's also a clear decline in both oil and gas production.
However, if you look at the broader region, there are significant gas discoveries in Suriname, much associated gas with the recent prolific Guyana offshore oil discoveries, gas in eastern Venezuela (including the Dragon field on the maritime boundary that seems likely to go ahead as a joint Trinidad/Venezuela development). And who knows what is in the Barbados-Grenada Basin?
A natural thought is - at least to me - is there regional petroleum, especially gas, that could re-vitalise Trinidad's industrial 'cluster'?
This leads me to ask, I was well taught(!), how well do we understand the regional Petroleum System?
Nobody can answer this question better than my erstwhile colleague Andy Pepper, and he will bring his insights to us in this webinar on March 8th.
*I should add that my visits there led to an ongoing love of David Rudder's anthem to West Indies cricket 'Rally round the West Indies' and also respect for the BP Renegades, the steel band.

With a specific focus on gas, we can say that:
The southern ‘gas trend’, largely biogenic in origin, is already known to extend across the Trinidad-
Venezuela border and onto the Delta Amacoro shelf. However, a large public data gap exists between the
Venezuela-Trinidad border and the ‘Liza Trend’ in Guyana.
Many gas and mixed oil-gas phase pools have been discovered in southern deep-water Guyana
and much of deep-water Suriname; our models predict yet more oil and gas in a future shelf play. Although
no volumes have been published for the discoveries, pay counts reported in early wells indicate a very
significant proportion of associated solution and gas-cap gas, especially given our interpretation that the so
called ‘volatile oil’ there is actually rich gas-condensate.

David Bamford is well known around the oil & gas industry both as an explorer and a geophysicist. He retired from BP plc in 2003, his last four positions being Chief Geophysicist (1990-1995), Business Unit Leader (General Manager) for first West Africa and then Norway (1995-1999), and finally Head of Exploration until 2003.
He has undertaken asset and company valuation projects for investment banks, hedge funds and small oil companies. He has been a board director of Tullow Oil and Premier Oil.
He holds a Physics degree from the University of Bristol and a Ph.D in Geological Sciences from the University of Birmingham.
