Watch the video
First today we're going to hear from Chris Davies, senior advisor and founder of advocacy and communications body CCS Europe.
CCS Europe has scored every EU country for its progress with capture, storage, transport and funding.
The highest scorer was Denmark with A, followed by Netherlands, Italy, Greece and Romania who all scored B.
Chris is a former Member of the European Parliament.
Second we're going to hear about the Ravenna CCS hub in Northeast Italy.
This is one of the most ambitious CCS projects in the EU, looking to store 4 million tonnes CO2 a year by 2030.
It is currently in its start-up phase and it is injecting CO2 captured from an ENI natural gas treatment plant.
We're going to hear from Paolo Testini, Director CCS and Carbon Removal with the energy infrastructure company Snam.
The project is an ENI and SNAM partnership.
Paolo leads development of the Ravenna CCS project on the Snam side.
And finally today we're going to hear from Jasmin Sharzad, Chief Advisor, with the Department for subsurface and research, with Denmark's Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities.
CCS Europe assesses that Denmark has dedicated funding for CCS projects, concrete targets for storage,
A carbon tax beyond the EU emission trading scheme, storage licenses granted for the first projects, and a strong understanding of national storage potential.
Which is why was given the best grade in the EU.
Denmark's Project Greensand now expects to be the first CO2 storage project in operation in the EU, Starting in late 2025 or early 2026, with up to 400,000 tonnes a year CO2 from biomethane production.
