The UK’s CCUS Transport and Storage task force did a study about technologies which could potentially be used to reduce reliance on 4D seismic in monitoring CO2 storage.
In this webinar, Ian Barron, senior geoscientist with the North Sea Transition Authority (and former geophysicist with Shell and BG Group), and one of the lead authors of the study, will present the study’s recommendations.
It includes a shortlist of technologies which are worth further trials or tests, perhaps on the first CO2 storage sites in the UK.

I am a solutions-orientated Geoscientist with a wide range of experience in multiple geological basins & plays, with operational experience on exploration and development wells and also onshore and offshore seismic acquisition and processing. I've recently made the move from Poacher to Gamekeeper, becoming a regulator in the UK's nascent carbon storage industry. Prior to this I worked in all parts of the funnel, from NV & exploration through to developments, and worked in several countries overseas as well as in the UK. This has given me experience of working in multicultural teams and also in split-location teams using the IT tools to work effectively. I've also worked in partnerships and Joint Ventures with IOCs, NOCs and Independents.

Since leaving the Royal Navy, Rob has specialised in offshore energy, in both conventional oil and gas and overseeing large projects in site characterisation and asset integrity for Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS). He was the lead for the Energy Technologies Institute store monitoring programme and has recently been working with the IOGP to develop their shallow monitoring guidelines. Rob is the Principal Advisor for CCUS at the geophysical and geotechnical consultancy Inosys Ltd, he is published on the subject and speaks regularly at conferences.
