On Feb 25 we’ll look at the emerging business opportunities in East Africa, particularly those which involve a close working relationship with the host country, looking particularly at Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania. We expect to look at exploration, politics and security issues, ways to meet ‘local content’ requirements, and an update on what companies are doing in the region.

Greg has over 40 years experience in the oil and gas industry including over 30 years experience with BP plc following which he served as CEO of a private equity backed company he co-founded called Canamens and subsequently as CEO of a listed company on the London Stock Exchange called Independent Resources plc subsequently refinanced and renamed now called Echo Energy plc.

At BP, Greg served as Business Leader for BP Norway, Head of Investor Relations and finally as group Vice President for Health, Safety, Security and Environment at global remit before retiring in 2006.

Michael has been a Senior Account Manager at Invest in Africa since November 2012. He is responsible for delivering a $4m business skills training programme in Ghana.

Michael has worked in African affairs for over eight years. During this period, he has worked with Government, the Private Sector and Third Sector giving him a 360 degree experience of Africa. He has travelled extensively across Africa visiting Rwanda, Cote’d’Ivoire, Tunisia and Kenya. He has also lived in Senegal, Ethiopia, Ghana, and Yemen.

Why Invest in Tanzania?
Mr. Lucas Mahushi Luhaga is a Geophysicist at Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) since January, 2014. He obtained his Bachelor degree of Science with Education at the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania in the year 2010. He also have a Master degree of Science in Mathematical Modelling conferred by the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania in November, 2013.

In September 2015, Mr. Luhaga was admitted at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland- UK to pursue a Master degree programme in Geophysics. In September 2016, he was awarded a Master degree of Science in Geophysics by the University of Aberdeen.

Being a Professional Geophysicist, Mr. Luhaga have conducted and successfully published research papers about Petroleum Exploration in Tanzania. He is currently a technical team member for Block 4/1B and West Songo songo Block Projects and Data Management Unit at TPDC.

Offshore East Africa and the Indian Ocean: Hunting micro-continents


Gregor has over 13 years of experience in the oil and gas exploration geoscience services industry. He started his career with Veritas DGC as Geoscientist, taking on various technical roles to support the Geological Services team of the then Data Library business activities focusing mainly on the interpretation of G&G data to characterise oil and gas prospectivity in various basins around the world.

The company was taken over by CGG in 2007 and Gregor has dedicated his career since to the Geoscience support team of the Multi-Client and New Ventures division. He leads this team since 2011 as Senior Technical Manager for the Europe, Africa and Middle-East region. His experience covers exploration in the North Sea basins, Atlantic Margin basins, West Africa, the Mediterranean Sea, the Caspian Sea and the Banda Arc basins in Indonesia. He has an MSc in Geology from the National School of Geology of Nancy in France and an MSc in Geophysics from the School and Observatory for Earth Sciences of Strasbourg.
