OFFSHORE OPERATIONS

Are there ways to achieve further safety improvements in how we operate offshore?

In searching for ways the oil and gas industry might be able to improve its safety record from its current position - perhaps we shouldn't be looking for more procedures, but simpler procedures, procedures which feel more intuitive, ways to get procedures off paper and into the head - and perhaps better training for crisis situations when almost by definition there can be no procedure to follow. These are tricky questions.

"Steve Horton's presentation on Macondo was excellent and provided lots of food for thought! I also really enjoyed Humphrey Douglas's presentation on how what happened at Macondo could impact the regulations in the UK."
