Statoil Chooses KADME’s Whereoil for GeoTracker System

Friday, March 11, 2011 in Software

KADME’s Whereoil data search software will be used to power Statoil’s GeoTracker system, helping Statoil report data to regulatory authorities worldwide.

Whereoil is being customized to track Statoil’s internal data flow, ensuring data passes through the necessary quality control steps and is successfully transmitted globally to regulatory authorities, corporate data stores and other data sources. The work began in February 2011 and is set to go live in August 2011.

The GeoTracker system will enable Statoil users globally to automate data flow tasks based on predefined, country-specific rules. Automated notifications will be implemented to make it easier for Statoil users to meet their reporting deadlines. This will allow users to create workflows that make it easier to meet global data reporting requirements. Whereoil provides important monitoring and tracking capabilities so a supervisor can quickly check and report on data status.

In addition, Whereoil will connect Statoil’s internal systems to outside information sources such as the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate fact pages and the DISKOS National Data Repository. The Whereoil software is currently used as part of many oil company’s information management systems, and also powers National Data Repositories such as EPIS in Colombia and the ArcticWeb.com geo-portal.
