Spectraseis gets 28x faster processing on NVIDIA GPUs
Thursday, May 17, 2012
Spectraseis of Houston reports that it can do elastic wave-equation imaging 28 times faster using NVIDIA graphical processing units, compared to using conventional microchips.
Spectraseis provides seismic monitoring and microseismic fracture imaging services.
By being able to do imaging faster, it can provide microseismic data to customers much faster.
This faster data processing method enables additional quality control and analysis of microseismic fracture monitoring datasets.
Spectraseis does full elastic seismic migration using 3-component field data.
This requires computational horsepower typically reserved for only the largest scale scientific models, the company says.
