Simon Howes appointed head of Interica

Friday, July 06, 2012

Simon Howes has been appointed head of Interica, the new data management business of oilfield services company Reservoir Group.

Interica was formed from the merger of Enigma Data Solutions and InfoAsset, companies both acquired by Reservoir Group.

Mr Howes was previously an academic researcher at the University of Cambridge, UK, and has spent 10 years developing software and hardware to automate academic research processes.

He has also worked for optics company Carl Zeiss, involved in developing a ruggedized scanning electron microscope for analysis of drill cuttings at the well site. The development was in partnership with an oil and gas company.

Interica aims to offer a comprehensive data management service, including managing all wells and seismic data.

'As managing director, my primary aim is to grow Interica into a consolidated solutions' provider to both the oil and gas industry and associated sectors, such as mining and renewable energy," Mr Howes said.

'This is a unique offering, not only to upstream oil and gas businesses, but almost certainly to any data-centric industry," he says.
