Schlumberger new high temp reservoir characterisation tools

Friday, February 10, 2012 in Automation

Schlumberger HT reservoir evaluation tools for downhole fluid analysis, fluid sampling, pressure measurement and interval pressure transient testing, at high temperatures and pressures.

The tools are designed to be used in tight formations, enabling a precise control of the rate which you are drawing down (reducing pressure in) your reservoirs.

They are rated to over 200 degrees C.

The tools are called PressureXpress-HT reservoir pressure service and MDT Forte-HT qualified, rugged, high-temperature formation sampling and pressure system.

"These two tool systems expand our capabilities to deliver reliable downhole fluid analysis, fluid sampling, pressure measurement and interval pressure transient testing,' said Catherine MacGregor, president, Schlumberger Wireline.

The tools have been tested for shock, vibration, temperature and pressure cycling, she said.

The tools provide a data quality not achievable with conventional high temperature formation tester tools, Schlumberger claims.

The tools were tested in Thailand and the North Sea.

The MDT Forte-HT system is for formation sampling and testing. MDT stands for Modular Formation Dynamics Tester.

It has a redesigned electronics system, with a ruggedized chassis to protect sensitive electronics.
