Schlumberger launches Houston geoengineering laboratory

Saturday, April 14, 2012

Schlumberger has inaugurated a new geo-engineering laboratory in Houston.

The facility is 30,000 square feet.

It will be used for reservoir core analysis, measuring porosity, saturation and permeability.

It will also house a special core analysis laboratory for performing tests of a more complex nature covering capillary pressure, relative permeability, electrical properties, nuclear magnetic resonance, enhanced oil recovery evaluations.

Services for unconventional reservoirs will also be provided from the laboratory, including rock mechanics and geomechanics services.

'As clients explore more complex reservoirs, they are demanding improved reservoir characterization, and the need for core analysis has grown dramatically,' said Sameh Hanna, president, Schlumberger Testing Services.

Schlumberger also operates core analysis laboratories in Brazil, Canada, Malaysia, Poland, Venezuela and Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.
