SafeKick launches drilling planning and training software

Friday, February 03, 2012 in Software

UK drilling simulator company SafeKick has launched the first version of its SafeVision software, which can be used for planning and training for specific drilling projects.

The software can simulate all stages of the drilling process, with hydraulic (liquid flow), thermal (heat), mechanical (machinery) and solids transport simulator models.

The software is not connected to any real time drilling data.

The idea is that drilling staff can use the software to get an idea of what it will be like to drill a certain well before they do it for real.

The software has a visualisation of what is happening in the well.

It also display information which people can use to make decisions, instead of the raw data which is all people usually have access to totday.

The software has modules for integrated kick tolerance and kill sheet.

It can also simulate completion operations, and tasks where the blow out preventer (BOP) needs to be closed.

SafeKick is currently developing its "SafeVision Well Data Package", which will run on actual well data, either real time or historical.
