PointCross - drilling and seismic data repositories
Thursday, May 17, 2012
PointCross, a company based in California which develops structures for storing oil and gas data on the cloud, has launched a "drilling data server and repository", for storing drilling data on the cloud.
It can be used for finding geotechnical markers, search and analytics. You can use it to extract patterns from surface and subsurface logs.
It can receive data in WITSML, LAS and WITS format.
It has also launched a SEG-Y server and repository for SEG-Y seismic files. This means that the files can be instantly available to geophysicists anywhere in the world.
The server is based on Hadoop and HBase technology. It can store data at petabyte scale.
