Perfomix drilling data on Oracle's Exadata machine

Friday, July 13, 2012

Perfomix, a Houston company which helps manage drilling data, reports that its system has been recognised by Oracle as being suitable for running on its Exadata high performance database machine.

Perfomix has developed, tested and tuned its "PetroSocial" drilling and production performance management products suite 2.0 on Exadata.

"This accomplishment is a testament to Perfomix's ability to deliver the extreme performance and reliability customers require," Perfomix says.

The Perfomix software can be used to manage well data, do remote well surveillance, do real time performance monitoring and put together collaborative workflows.

It aggregates and manages real time and historic drilling and production data; it also helps integrate data tools with other applications for well planning, construction, geo-steering, production, distribution and asset management.

By running the software on Exadata, it was possible to reduce the amount of time to process one month of data from a field by four times.

'PetroSocial Drilling & Production Performance Management Products Suite with Oracle Exadata Optimized status is a great fit for large to midsized national, international and independent oil companies," says Celestine Vettical, CEO of Perfomix Inc.

"The performance gains and scalability allow them to enable geologists, drilling engineers and asset teams to use highly granular real-time and long duration history data to enable better and proactive decisions for faster and safer drilling and for maximizing asset performance.'
