KADME's interactive petroleum map

Friday, June 03, 2011 in Software

Oil and gas information management company KADME has developed an interactive map of Norwegian oil fields, which is on display at the
Norwegian Oil Museum, Stavanger.

The map was unveiled at the European Oil & Gas archives and European Oil Museums conference on 26 May in Stavanger.

Users can view oilfields, licenses, blocks, and offshore infrastructure.

The map can also be viewed online at http://www.petroleumskartet.no.

“The Museum needed to create a system that would allow visitors and researchers access to the vast amounts of North Sea data," says Harald Tønnesen, curator of Norwegian Oil Museum "We decided that an interactive map, linking images, articles and other information, would bring the most value. Our ambition is that this map could be extended to cover all of Europe’s oil and gas infrastructure.”

“We combined our deep knowledge of GIS with our expertise in data management to give the Norwegian Oil Museum an interactive map that would meet their goals of providing a more comprehensive overview of Norway’s energy resources," says Gianluca Monachese, Director of business development at KADME.

"We created interoperability between the data sources to allow users to view the data correlated on the map.”

In a separate development Kadme reports that it has signed a sales agreement with Orogenic Resources Sdn Bhd of Malaysia, to sell its products in Southeast Asia.
