CGGVeritas 20m man hours on OMAN land seismic without LTI

Friday, February 17, 2012 in Exploration / Seismic

CGG Veritas reports that it has completed 20 million man hours of land seismic operations in Oman without a lost time incident (an accident which takes someone off the job).

The company has a long term land acquisition crew, acquisition high density 3D seismic.

The crew is operated by CGGVeritas Middle East joint venture Ardiseis.

The crew has over 360 personnel and 130 vehicles. Field conditions include high desert temperatures and challenging terrain such as dense oilfield infrastructure, rocky wadis and steep jebels.

"We attribute such an impressive achievement to the commitment shown not only by the management, of both PDO and Ardiseis, but also by the field staff themselves. Thanks to such dedication, the safety culture is really embedded in the majority of the people on the crew from senior to junior staff," says Salim Al-Rawahi, Chief Geophysicist, Petroleum Development OMAN (PDO).
