BP asks Kongsberg to build well advisor system

Thursday, November 8, 2012

BP has signed a 3 year contract with Kongsberg Oil and Gas Technology to develop a suite of decision support consoles to present key drilling information to well construction decision

BP's investment in Kongsberg's system is described as "multi-million dollar".

BP's Well Advisor program aims to present real time data, analyse real time data, and present it together with applicable practises and expertise, to support operational decision making in all stages of well construction / drilling.

The consoles will be based on Kongsberg's "discovery" web platform, part of its "SiteCom" suite of software.

Kongsberg is expected to develop 4-6 new consoles, or "dashboards", each year of its 3 year agreement.

BP and Kongsberg will work together to provide training and support.

'As an integral part of the BP Well Advisor team, KONGSBERG and BP have worked together closely developing BP Well Advisor from concept to successful implementation in the field,' says Fereidoun Abbassian, VP technology with BP's Global Wells Organisation.
