BP Norway works with EV's downhole cameras

Downhole camera specialist "EV" reports that it has signed a 6 month agreement with BP Norway to deploy its cameras in the North Sea.

The company has been named as BP's "preferred supplier of camera and video inspection tools in the UK sector."

The cameras can be used to take pictures from inside the wellbore, at any depth. They can be used for inspection and monitoring.

EV provides the "Optis" suite of downhole camera equipment. There is a system for deployment in drill pipe, a slickline memory camera, and a sideview and downview wellbore camera.

"We also anticipate building upon our working relationship with BP overseas, and have recently carried out our first job on land in the USA for BP," says David Clover, VP business development with EV.

'Our cameras provide valuable information, including live streaming-video from the installation to a smart phone that instantly allows critical and informed decisions to be made. The high-level effectiveness of EV's equipment and service has led to BP installing equipment on assets as contingency plans.'

The compay has developed a wireless subsea camera, which can transmit live video 5 metres, for example from subsea equipment to a remote operated vehicle.
