DATA - DATA PROCESSING - LEARNING - ECONOMICS
How can reservoir exploitation become a business, rather then 'just' a science - does a better approach to digital technology provide the key?
This is a forum for oil company exploration professionals to talk about the right approach to digital technology which will lead to results which their board is looking for - reserves replacement, production growth, lower costs per barrel.
Many events talk about technology itself - with this event we want to talk about something different - finding the right approach to digital technology - which is actually a different subject.
We plan the discussion split into 4 theme areas
- DATA the quality and accessibility of the subsurface data, including the archive
- DATA PROCESSING the processing of the data - interpretation, machine learning, integration, simulation
- LEARNING how people learn - how to do it better, get a better understanding of a situation, learning from the mistakes of last time
- ECONOMICS how it all adds up to good economic decision making - what surveys to request, what blocks to bid for, and where to drill.
Issues of data standards, user interfaces, cloud hosting, super computing, data services, software construction, surveying and monitoring technologies, sit behind all of these four theme areas.
We can maybe define the 'traditional approach' as a single software company and an expensive package which aims to do data, processing, learning and economics.
We assert that future software will be put together with many different components.
We are looking for oil company exploration professionals who are able to tell a story about how their approach to digitech
And speakers from service companies who have ideas about a better approach.
